The Mumbai Police Has Finally Arrested The Person Who Leaked ‘Udta Punjab’ Online. And No, It’s Not Who You Think It Is

On June 15th, the internet lost it when they received the news of Udta Punjab being ‘leaked‘ online. Some were furious, and some were quick to download and watch it. But whoever did it, very conveniently placed the word “CENSOR” everywhere, including the torrent downloads.
The Cyber Crime Police have already made an arrest, who happens to be the owner of a website, for releasing the leaked censor copy of Udta Punjab on torrent and his website. Censor board officials and the production house officials are still under probe as to who and what is behind this.
The Cyber Crime Police have already made an arrest, who happens to be the owner of a website, for releasing the leaked censor copy of Udta Punjab on torrent and his website. Censor board officials and the production house officials are still under probe as to who and what is behind this.
For now, 25-year-old Dipak Kumar has been arrested by the Mumbai Police. The legal team ofUdta Punjab’s production house, filed a complaint after the film’s copy was leaked and related film sites and went viral on a large scale, enabling users to download it illegally.

“Preliminary interrogation of Kumar revealed that two separate links of websites of Torrent were made by user robby007. On downloading the movie, it was revealed that the first censor copy of the movie was stolen and was uploaded on Torrent. Our probe revealed that website allzmovies.in had uploaded the links on the websites,” said a crime branch officer in an interview with DNA.

“We are probing whether someone from the team associated with the movie or with the censor board had helped Kumar with the leaked copy. As per the doubts raised by the production team in their complaint, the members of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) are allegedly involved behind the copy leak since the leaked version had “FOR CENSOR’ notice on it,” said the officer.

“We believe that there are more persons who are responsible for committing the crime and after diligent efforts and investigations we have arrested Kumar. The accused professionally and illegally uploads the movies on the internet along with social media and makes it viral by preparing links with downloading options. He has uploaded pirated movies on the internet in the past. We are still investigating the case and our inquiries with the censor board and production teams is in process,” said deputy commissioner of police, Cyber Crime, Sachin Patil.
