Sachin Tendulkar is a human- believe it or not- and he has emotions, just like any one of us. He has worked hard and played hard to be where he is, and to achieve the kind of immortality he enjoys.

1That Century Most Cherished

That Century, we are sure, is one of Sachin’s specials- a 100 runs scored under intense emotion and sadness; a 100 runs perhaps most cherished, because they were all dedicated to the single most inspirational man in Sachin’s life- his father.
Ramesh Tendulkar died in the middle of 1999 World Cup, being played in England. Sachin went back to India but returned within four days to play against Kenya. He scored 140 not out. After scoring his 100th run, he took his helmet off and looked to the heavens- an image so emotionally intense, it swept us all along with it.

They made all of us jump with joy, thump the air and eventually shed tears of joy. It was an emotional moment for all of us- but most of all for the man for whom it meant the most- Sachin Tendulkar. “I did cry when I went out in the middle, I did cry,” Sachin told Headlines Today while recalling that night in 2011 when no Indian slept. And along with their God cried a million Indians!

Each and every fan watching the historic game that day had only one thing on their mind- this man, truly, is the Superman of India!

That was the first and the last time Sachin’s mother had turned up to watch her son play. Ten years ago, Rajni Tendulkar had remarked that she gets all tensed up while watching Sachin play, and so had never turned up at any of his matches. His last, at Mumbai’s Wankhede, however, was special. Sachin had planned to surprise her- and she was, when she heard that he wanted her to come to watch the match. When the big screen flashed his mother’s proud face, the crowd got up to give her a standing ovation- a mark of immense respect, love and, of course, emotion.

5That Moment When Sachin Walked Out To Bat- For The Last Time

No amount of words could ever describe that feeling, that emotional whirlwind as Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar walked out to bat- for the last time in his glorious cricketing life. Upon crossing the boundary rope, he looked to the heavens- his signature style of walking out, walked for the last time. Upon walking out into the field, he checked the pitch- checked for the last time.
